Monday, February 11th
Finally, after a 62-hour delay, we land in Winnipeg. The
return trip was an adventure on its own. The snowstorm provided an occasion to
develop serenity. That was quite a challenge.
Tuesday evening
was a farewell celebration. The evening started with a demonstration of folk
dances. Following the show, we all joined in the dancing, and the cake… For the
Franco-Amigos, the heartfelt appreciation and gratitude was the gift received.
It also provided the incentive to return. Helping the destitute is a privilege.
Wednesday was the
day of rest. We became tourists, visited the cathedral of Santo Domingo, bought
a few souvenirs and celebrated at “Pizza Hut”. We arrived at the orphanage in
time for supper and spent a quiet evening signing, reminiscing….
The activity for Thursday
was a visit to the local chocolate factory. It was an organized tour that from
the cocoa farm to the processing and the making of chocolate. It was very
interesting.
Milagro’s new home on Tuesday morning, only a few hours of work before leaving.
